The Activities Team (A-Team) is made up of dedicated and enthusiastic Scripps students who offer a wide range of cultural, social, and educational programs to the student body. This creative group has the responsibility of event planning in the areas of on-campus, off-campus, and community service ventures. They serve as the official alcohol alternative programming group on campus.
A-Team has put on 17 different events throughout the school year. Something we focused on this year was collaboration. We collaborated with NSP, the SAS Diversity and Inclusivity chair, and NSP. As a team we feel these collaborations not only strengthened our programs, but also allowed us to expand past our typical range of events and reach new members of the Scripps Community. Our biggest event of the year is carnival, which this year was called Wonderfest. We collaborated with the Motley on this event and it was a huge success. We estimate that over 600 people came to the Motley in order to enjoy live music, crafts, food, and art. A-Team also puts on events the first Friday of every month that range from trips off campus, viewing parties, taste of Claremont with food from all over the Claremont area, and craft nights.
We add new members at the beginning of every academic year, and occasionally at the start of second semester. Anyone can join Activities Team! Members join through an application and interview process. We ask applicants to suggest ideas for events, indicate why they want to be involved, and any event planning experience. Then prospective members are interviewed by the two co-presidents. Our team usually consists of around 15 members.
A-Team membership requires application and meetings are not open to other Scripps students.
