Scripps Food Recovery Network

As a chapter of the National Food Recovery Network (FRN), the Scripps FRN seeks to combat food waste through community engagement. To reduce dining hall food waste, FRN volunteers deliver leftover food twice a week to two nearby organizations that would otherwise be thrown away. The success of FRN relies on volunteers, the broader Scripps community and dining hall staff support and coordination. Becoming aware of the magnitude of food waste at Scripps is the first step to changing the habits of the students and reducing the sometimes unnecessarily large quantities of foods prepared by the dining hall.
