Scripps Student Art Collective
Our mission is to create an environment conducive to the artistic expression of Scripps students, regardless of their academic area of study. Through events and club meetings, we want to encourage creative expression and interaction of artists across the 5Cs as part of a welcoming artistic community. All current Scripps students are welcome to participate. People can get involved by participating in club activities in order to create their own art as well as provide inspiration and feedback for other members.
We tend to have bi-weekly meetings where all members are able to come together and share theme ideas for upcoming SSAC shows. In addition, during these meetings, we plan art-based school-wide events. Mandatory meetings are held the night before a show in order to finalize last minute details. Our largest event each semester are student art exhibitions where all 5C students are welcome to submit their art. We also collaborate with the Pomona Art museum to host a 7C Art mixer at which different art clubs from the 5C's can network in order to foster a cross campus artistic community. On a more fun note, we also host holiday themed activities such as pumpkin decorating and Valentine card making. We attempt to make art accessible to all those interested.
