Café Con Leche
We seek to provide a forum for the discussion of social, political, and economic issues that affect women, particularly those of Latinx decent. We intend to raise awareness of diversity and its implications in our immediate community and surrounding areas. We dedicate ourselves to social justice by developing a critical lens through which we can analyze ourselves and the world. We welcome all members of the Scripps community regardless of racial and cultural heritage to join us in this pursuit. Women of color from across the 5Cs are welcome to attend our meetings; however, we do cater to serve the Latinx community at Scripps. The most common way for people to get involved is to attend our weekly meetings on Thursday evenings, 9pm in SCORE.
We meet every Thursday evening, 9pm in SCORE. We try to have a theme with each meeting. Some are more discussion-based while others involve artistic/crafty activities. Some topics of conversation include: identity as Latinas, microaggressions, recommendations for classes/professors, tips for study abroad, any contentious activities happening on campus such as marches, protests, and demands. |
