Executive Vice President

SAS Executive Board Office Hours:
President (Simran Sethi), EVP (Rebecca Yao), and VPSA (Reyna Manriquez)
Thursdays 4:45-6:45 pm in the Student Union
Responsibilities:
  • Assumes the role of President in the case of President’s absence
  • Serves as the parliamentarian of SAS and deals with inter-SAS issues or concerns
  • Oversees elections in the fall and spring
  • In the event that the EVP is participating in the elections, they will appoint another person on SAS to oversee elections
  • Works with President and VPSA to plan and facilitate SAS trainings in the fall and spring semesters
  • Facilitates BeHeard forums throughout the academic year in collaboration with SAS senators and the Scripps student body
  • Manages the application process of student senators that takes place in the fall semester
  • Organizes SAS retreat and coordinates SAS bonding throughout the year
  • Motivates SAS members to maximize their individual and collective contributions through individual meetings
  • EVP must meet with all non-programming SAS positions throughout the semester. The EVP must meet with all SAS members at the beginning of the semester and must meet with all non-programming SAS positions twice following the initial meeting. 
  • Non-programming positions are as follows: DIC, JARC, FSRC, VPs of Finance, Secretary, Sustainability Chair, Community Building Chair
  • Hold each SAS position accountable for the responsibilities allocated to them. Oversees the internal affairs of the SAS Board and reports all relevant information to the President as necessary. 
  • Participate in budget allocation process for 5-Colleges
  • If a SAS position opens during the school year, the EVP should lead the effort to fill the position.
  • Meets with the Dean of Students and with other Scripps College staff and administration as needed
  • ​Holds office hours for at least two hours a week
