OUR MISSION

Scripps Associated Students (SAS) is committed to strengthening the Scripps Community by empowering students to live confidently, courageously, and hopefully in a community of which we can all be proud. The function of SAS is to be a liaison among the student body and the administration, faculty, and the Board of Trustees of Scripps College. SAS plans a variety of programs and activities, funds clubs and organizations, and serves as an advocate for student needs and concerns in an effort to improve student life on and off campus.

Our Organization

Officer Board

The primary focus of the Officer Board is communicate student interests and concerns to the administration, work to improve Scripps policies and procedures, and ensure that SAS is achieving its overall mission. The Officer Board is chaired by the SAS President. You can see who sits on the Officer Board here. The Officer Board is elected in the spring, with the exception of the First Year Class President. The Officer Board meetings take place on Sunday evenings from 7-8:30 pm and all members of the Scripps student body are welcome to attend. Please email the SAS President by Friday at 5 pm prior to the meeting you would like to present at the meeting.

Senate

SAS Senate is comprised of several committees that meet at least once per academic school year. All committee members are selected through an application process in the fall. SAS Senate holds BeHeard forum discussions as needed and brings concrete action to issues voiced by students at BeHeard forums. Contact the Executive Vice President for more information.

BOT Representatives

SAS appoints two students (plus one alternate) to serve as representatives to each Board of Trustee Committee along side the SAS president every year.

The Board of Trustee Committees include
  • Mission Fulfillment
  • Financial Stewardship
  • Scripps Beyond

If you have questions, comments or concerns you would like to be addressed by any of these committees, please feel free to contact us or any of the current representatives.
