SAS COVID19 UPDATE
|
Given that funding is allocated for the entire academic year, the majority of student body fees for the 2019-2020 academic year have already been used by CLORGs, 5C organizations, SAS members, and allocated to individual/group requests for programming, events, resources and more. However, we recognized that because our year on campus was cut short, and programming had to cease, there was still a portion of student fees that had been distributed, but was not spent before most of us were asked to return home.
As a result, SAS created the SAS COVID-19 Student Relief Account so that CLORGs could donate their unused funds to a specific account that would help support students in need. The SAS COVID-19 Student Relief Account is set up to cover minor, short-term expenses incurred as a result of current circumstances (by reimbursement). This includes, but is not limited to: groceries, toiletries, hygiene products, cleaning supplies, etc. (Unfortunately, we are unable to cover long-term and large expenses such as airfare and rent, as this would jeopardize SAS' status as a non-profit organization.)
All CLORGs and SAS positions were encouraged to donate to this fund and we are so pleased that many have done so! This account is our effort at channeling remaining student body fees to support Scripps students in light of this unprecedented situation.
