Sustainability Chair

Office hours:
Tuesdays 7:00-9:00 pm in the Student Union
Responsibilities: 
  • Sits on and liaises between Scripps Environmental Clubs, SAS, Green Living LLC, and Sustainability Committee
  • Works with student body to organize and host the PowerDown Energy Challenge
  • Works with maintenance, Malott Dining Commons staff, Director of Grounds, Director of Facilities, and Sustainability Coordinator to execute and publicize event.
  • Helps organize the annual Scripps Sustainability Fair alongside sustainability clubs across campus, with the support of faculty, staff and administrators.
  • Networks with administrators and student groups to achieve a more sustainable, local, environmentally friendly & conscious campus
  • Promotes and advocates for increased administrative and grassroots measures that promote a more sustainable campus culture
  • Serves students directly by providing information and resources, including history of past student activism, as well as options for students’ own sustainable commitments. Guides students on how to work with the larger Scripps community to advocate for a campus that reflects students’ environmental values.
  • Organizes events and programs for environmental initiatives such as, Scripps Scrapps, the Greenware program, local dinner/dialogue, film screenings, Student Garden Project, composting, recycling in the dorms, and more.
  • Encourages and supports student activism toward building an institution that represents their environmental and social values. Supports students’ voices while enabling dialogue among the various groups involved.
  • Holds office hours for at least two hours a week

    • Subject the email: "Greenware Request for (time and date)"
    • In the email make sure to include your name, the club you represent (if it applies), and the meal times when you will pick up and drop off the Greenware
